In accordance with European Regulation
(Risk Analysis Biocontamination Control
System (RABC)/EN 14065), the following
measures are recommended for the
hygienic processing of laundry in
residential and care homes, and hospitals:
Collect and sort soiled laundry
• Place the soiled laundry in cloth laundry
bags
• Sort the items according to fabric and
wash programme required and colour
code the laundry bags
• Do not store the laundry for a long time
before processing
• The weight of the laundry bag should not
exceed 10 kg
• When the soiled laundry is being moved
it must not come into contact with clean
laundry
Wash and disinfect
• Contaminated, possibly infected or
infectious laundry should be processed
in barrier washer-disinfectors
in accordance with Prevention of Accidents
Regulation BGR 500, Chapter 2.6
• Select the appropriate cleaning and
disinfection programme for the type of
fabric and soiling
• Use suitable cleaning and disinfecting
agents
• Check and document the process
parameters
